I got a nice but not too expensive mandolin years ago. I don't use it as much as I'd like because I can't leave it sitting out because I worry kitties may step on it, so I forget about it up in a cabinet. I will def use it to try some slaw recipes. The video made me so nervous with her using it unprotected! Mine came with a plastic thing, as most do, that you stick on top of the vegetable so you don't slice your fingers plus I got knife proof gloves for using it. It does make beautiful uniform slices.
I also have veg peeler trauma that made me additionally nervous watching her use the veg peeler lol. When I was about 13 I was peeling potatoes, holding it as most people do, slicing that thing right down towards the bottom of your hand and I made a huge cut at the very base of my thumb. I have been ultra careful holding potatoes for peeling since and that was 40 years ago.
Love slaw! It’s my “Im too lazy to make a veggie side” side. And I’m not ashamed to admit that I still like the soggy leftovers the next day. Edamame crunch is now on my to make list!
Who knew I needed a cabbage slicer?! You did! That looks so much easier than a knife, and for me, prettier, too. Mandolin. Scary. Just setout the Band Aids at the same time.
With the weather turning here this comes at the perfect time of year as we head into spring 😊. Nothing better than a good slaw/salad when the weather is warm.

Your slaw from the meal manager recipes was amazing. I’m at the market and I hear a cabbage calling me 😊
