We are ominivores who lean towards plant based and this was excellent. My husband had 2 bowls. I only had chickpea gluten free pasta, so we are now incredibly full of chickpeas. So good!
I was going through your Mothers Day meals and started reading this post (which I now finally have access to....hooray paid subscription!) Earlier I watched a video Note posted by Nik Sharma where he explained why fenugreek has that maple-syrupy aroma. https://substack.com/@niksharma/note/c-56043717 :) So cool! I can't wait to make this one!
I was encountering many recipes for fenugreek, then I finally got some, and couldn't find those recipes! Can't wait to try this. I would love to see some freezer-friendly recipes so I can store extras for lunches and dinners.
Oh I forgot to do the audio!! (I’ve been rewatching Emily in Paris while I make dinner lol). My family loved this dish! I think I’ll add kale or spinach next time, because my family always does better when the veggies are right in the same dish haha!!
I can't wait to make this! I just ordered my fenugreek from Penzey's Spices (the BEST spices and social justice company around!). I'll pick it up today and make this later this week! Thanks for this! Oh, and I can't wait for the audio cookfest!
I was so excited when I moved here to see there's a location a few blocks from me! I love the owner and how he steps up with his social justice action!
I'm looking forward to making this! And I love the idea of a video cook-along! I'm disappointed in the Chang show that you described. I would love to see someone say, "Whoops! I chopped these too fine. That's ok -- just sautee them for less time and add more liquid because the smaller pieces dry out faster." or things like that.
One thing that I would love to see is some slow cooker recipes, or instructions on how to modify a recipe to make it slow-cooker friendly.
We had a power outage this morning and first email I opened was from Stir the Pot! Now, the lights are on and I can comment! Yay! I guess this is a power jolt from you!
My favorite simple grilling idea is quite basic. Take ne or more of those really big eggplants, chop off both ends, peel, and slice into 1” thick rounds. Salt and drain on a rack. It takes about 1/2 hour. Rinse off and Pat dry, then brush heavily with olive oil or avocado oil. Grill. You may need to keep basting with oil, but remember, it’s because otherwise it will keep sticking to the grill and this way you get a much better result.
I slice up onion, and if you have a finer grill which won’t allow it to drop through, grill after a brush of oil. Slice up a tomato.
At some point, many when you are waiting for the excess eggplant liquid to drain, mix up Rahini, freshly chapped garlic, salt, pepper, and ground cumin. That is your sauce for the pita you will toast, lightly. To assemble this very basic veggie burger, no chemicals involved, open the pita, place in a slice or more of the grilled eggplant, onion, tomato, and a good drizzle of the tahini sauce. If you have any parley, or cilantro, or even mint, chop finely and sprinkle on top. This is a wonderful very simple summery kind of meal.

Michelle! Would love to see more freezer friendly or partial meal prep recipes!
I made this tonight- 100% hands down one of the BEST dishes I've ever made. I can't thank you enough.
And it’s so easy, right? It feels almost illegal
Love the idea of audio recipe! I would definitely listen along as I cook! Let's make it happen!

It's like you're in my head. This weekend's general newsletter is all about filling up the freezer!

Sounds divine. I can’t wait for great summer eggplants
Recipe ideas? Bring on the grilling! 8am and I'm craving big slabs of grilled cabbage, all salty and lemony
Yessssssssssss I really want to live by the grill this summer. Hope you guys are ready
I’m intrigued by audio recipes. 🤔
Using the Enchilada beans as refried beans in a sheet pan of nachos? That's fucking brilliant!
honestly, it's so so delicious
Fuck, yes! I would love a cook along.
This looks so good!
As for future recipes, definitely love when you do grilling recipes, but could definitely use some new lunch ideas too.
I love audio everything. I’m doing this. In the recipe I see 3c chickpeas or “1 can.” Usually 1 can is 1.5 cups. Should this be 2 cans? Thanks
fixed and updated the pdf! one day I won't make a stupid typo but today isn't that day
