Let’s drop a ❤️ if you could use some extra time for fun activities this summer. I know I could.
Both my parents worked full time when I was growing up. My dad left very early every morning trying to beat the brutal traffic from the East Bay to the outskirts of Silicon Valley where he worked, only to return late in the night to do it all again the next day. Many people I grew up with had at least one parent making a similarly horrific commute. My mom left a little later, but still early as hell. Her job was local so the hours she shaved off in the morning meant that she could pick my brother and I up from school in the afternoon. We’d ride with a neighboring family to school and in exchange, she’d take their kids home when she rounded us up. This meant that the first real thing I said to my mom most days was shouted over the heads of the three to five kids piling into her car- “Hey! What’s for dinner?” My dear reader, I swear I didn’t know what I was doing. I wasn’t trying to immediately climb under her skin, but I couldn’t help myself. I was a food focused child -shocking revelation, I know-and dinner was my favorite meal. I was excited. My mother was not.
Let’s pretend you had the good fortune to have all your meals made for you until you turned 18, after that it’s all you. That means by the time you reach 45, firmly middle age, you will have been responsible for almost 30,000 meals just for yourself. Even with repetition, leftovers, and dining out, that’s still a hell of a lot of ideas for meals that you need to come up with. Factor in kids and partners, and that number just gets bigger. So many ideas get exhausted. Favorite recipes turned completely useless because they got made again and again until you can’t stomach the sight of them. “What’s for dinner?” can be one of the most aggressive things you can ask someone. Sorry Mom.

I know planning what hell you and your family are going to eat every week is exhausting. So I am here to help. Starting in July, I am going to start publishing Meal Manager Guides to get you through your work week, a few weeks at a time. They’ll cover dinner Sunday- Friday using recipes from my big back catalog of work, and maybe even some new ones. I will show you how to create meals that blend into one another, so you don’t have to cook meals from scratch every single night. Cooking like this also helps cut down on grocery costs because you’re repeating similar ingredients that you already have on hand and leftovers don’t go to waste. I know there are lots of kids, and adults who I will refrain from side-eyeing, that dislike leftovers so I will help you repackage them so they look like something new, with very little effort. I did a version of this in Hungry as Hell and I’ve received some great feedback. Since this is my first time offering this, I want to hear your feedback as I go. The whole point is to help everybody out so if you have some constructive criticism or suggestions, I want to hear them. Reply to any of my emails and let me know what you think or drop them in the comments.
The July Meal Manager will be hosted on my website (mdavisfoods.com) for an additional cost. I know, I know. I wish I could make it free for everyone but unfortunately it took me a lot of time to compile it and I’ve got bills like everybody else. I’ve kept the cost very low considering how much you’re getting. The July Meal Manager has three weeks of dinners all planned out for you, week by week, explaining what to make each night, and then all 18 recipes that you need included right in the text. No need to click a bunch of links or pull old books off the shelf; it’s entirely self contained.
This additional service was something so many of you wanted and I hope it helps alleviate the stress of cooking for yourself and loved ones. We never have enough time but hopefully, you’ll have a little time to breath since I took care of all the planning. We all need help. Let me help you take care of dinner and your contributions will help me right back. I really appreciate it. Any questions or technical difficulties let me know, you know where to find me.
xoxoxo,
Michelle
Not even 7am on Sat morning and I already have a meal plan and grocery list put together for July. I knew it would feel good, but DAMN! IT FEELS GOOD! "What's for dinner?" isn't going to set me off this month.
I just created a Google Drive to store all of mine in. This will definitely make life easier, especially during the school year.
